Security and performance are the twin cornerstones of successful desktop virtualization, that’s why we made them the foundation of our entire approach to end user computing. Virtual desktops are a good first step to increasing productivity and security, but we knew from speaking to clients that something was missing – an easy-to-manage, secure, affordable endpoint solution. That’s why Dizzion lunched zLink in early 2016.
Here’s what Dizzion CTO Rob Green said about the new solution at the time of its launch:
“Our customers love the benefits of security, productivity and mobility that they realize from using Dizzion’s virtual desktops. However, they’ve told us that managing their aging desktops and laptops is an ongoing source of frustration and cost. zLink eliminates that burden by providing a transformative ’Plug and Play’ delivery of Dizzion Cloud Services. When combined with the power of our virtual desktop service, zLink lowers the cost of hardware, supports flexible location work and reduces the threat of data security on the endpoint device.”
It was a well-received solution, but “good enough” is never really good enough and Dizzion is constantly looking for ways to improve our solutions and services. With that in mind, Dizzion announced a partnership with IGEL earlier this year to improve and expand the zLink secure endpoint solution. This partnership allows Dizzion to make the zLink a more software-focused solution that doesn’t face the same issues hardware does.
Rob sat down with IGEL at the September IGEL Disrupt EUC event in Las Vegas to discuss why offering secure endpoint solutions is important, why we choose to partner with IGEL and how zLink has improved since the change.
One of the key benefits of zLink powered by IGEL is increased security and cost savings that stem from easier, more inclusive endpoint management.
“Security at the end point is the most pervasive risk out there because your attack surface is so great. With IGELs at the endpoint that gets removed, it’s simplified,” Rob explains in the video. “There’s no additional cost to manage, patch and provide software updates and antivirus and all the things that are inherent with the Windows 10 world – that’s removed. So it’s far less costly to manage 1,000 IGEL devices than it is to manage 1,000 Windows 10 devices.”
