VMworld is always a great experience, and 2017 was no different. This is my 5th time attending and each year I attend I get inspired to innovate. Where else can you geek out, meet your colleagues and get a sneak peek into new technology that will change how we deliver our business? The overarching themes and messages from VMworld 2017 was security, ease of use and mobility. These themes sound generic but speak to the heartbeat of Dizzion. These three key areas really sum up the Dizzion value proposition, so needless to say they resonated with me.
Security is paramount in technology and really will be a theme for years to come. The tech I saw was really focused on making security a baseline requirement or “table stakes,” as they say. I was really interested in the advancements of NSX from VMware. I have been around the tech for a long time and it was never truly integrated in the VMware product line. I think that has changed. I cannot wait to get it in the lab and get it connected with our orchestration system COSMOS. NSX + COSMOS and our control center will allow us to deliver deeper security and controls with our compliance stack.
This is a core pillar of Dizzion. We have strived to remove the complexity and risk from delivering EUC technology. VMware Workspace One looks compelling. However what I think is really interesting is how VMware has embraced EUC. Most of the really cool product releases were focused on EUC. I think businesses have really started to embrace VDI, which is a core tenant of EUC. Could this be the year of VDI? Honestly I think every year is the year of VDI as innovation keeps making the technology more and more applicable to every business. One of our small business Fintech customers said, “every business should be using virtual desktops” – I could not agree more!
First and foremost, “mobility” is not only about mobile devices. It actually about how the workforce has become mobile and less bound to traditional offices. Today’s workforce is undeniably mobile and technology must be there to support this shift. In order for mobility to work you have to have ease of use and security. The trend of mobility is going to continue and I love it. This again is a core value prop of Dizzion. Digital + Fission = Dizzion, separating users from the constraints of their desk and traditional offices.
On the technology front we saw about 1000 different storage vendors each touting how fast they were. Great stuff but not really exciting to us. It was great to see one of our key integration partners, ControlUp, be a significant participant in best of VMworld. I am super excited about the NVIDIA grid. The NVIDIA grid with virtualized GPUs and the ability to QOS graphics utilization while supporting vMotion…mind blown. We have some really exciting enhancements to our product set coming. You thought we were fast before wait to you get a load of Dizzion Gen 6.
Overall it was a great conference and I’m excited to see that Dizzion’s value proposition directly aligns with key mantra of conference. Everyday we deliver on ease of use, security and a mobile workforce. I cannot wait to show our customers what is next for us! Exciting times!
