We recently wrote about why every member of the C-Suite should care about cybersecurity, and we’re not alone in recognizing this growing need. Dizzion partner ClearData (a “managed cloud provider designed for today’s healthcare security needs”) recently posted a blog that promotes regular CIO-CEO meetings to ensure the CEO is aware of the current risk state.
The post gives CIOs a quick but good understanding of what to expect from the CEO (hint: digging into the nitty-gritty “how” of cybersecurity isn’t the right approach) and makes some recommendations on how best to communicate in a way that most CEOs will relate to. Having these regular meetings are important for many of the reasons outlined in our post last week, but also notes that making sure CEOs fully grasp the risk can help IT secure more budget for security.
Here’s an excerpt:
“Having your CEO aware of the potential and current IP spoofs and phishing attempts or attempted denial of service and ransomware attacks helps that leader allocate proper resources and funds to protect your organization and your brand.”

The post also includes a link to a podcast that discusses incident management response planning as a good jumping off point for these joint debriefing meetings.
