A sea of change
For those of you familiar with the end-user computing industry, to say the past couple of years have been a bit turbulent would be a vast understatement.
Broadcom certainly didn't help the situation as they made even more waves with the completion of their long-anticipated acquisition of VMware. On the heels of the acquisition, Broadcom, unsurprisingly, announced the pending divestiture of both VMware's EUC (Horizon, Workspace ONE) and Security (Carbon Black) business units. The writing is on the wall that both will likely be sold to the highest bidder at some point in the future. What this means for existing VMware customers, especially those using their EUC and Security solutions, is a lot of uncertainty, inevitable disruption, and almost certainly increased costs.
Dizzion, a leading provider of Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and Composable Digital Workspaces, announced the closing of the acquisition of the Frame business unit from Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX). Combining Dizzion with Frame will create one of the largest independent DaaS companies, with industry-leading service capabilities delivered globally.
Through this transaction, both Dizzion and Nutanix customers alike will benefit from Dizzion's global capabilities in end-to-end design, deployment, Managed DaaS, Compliance Services (PCI, HIPAA, SOC and GDPR) and greater flexibility and choice with combined delivery options across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud and customer provided Nutanix infrastructure.
For many of us, the future of work has changed. While it’s impossible to predict the steady state outcome, it’s already clear working remotely will play an important role going forward. As we extend our enterprise beyond the traditional confines of physical location, some interesting decisions are presented.
What is top of mind for organizations of all sizes as we move forward? The recent scramble to implement or expand work-from-anywhere solutions has caused many to give End User Computing (EUC) technologies a second or third look.
