Application Optimization Essentials: Microsoft OneDrive

In previous blog posts, we talked about optimizations as they related to the Windows Operating System, including Active Setup, the Microsoft Store, Services & Scheduled Tasks, and more.

The focus of this blog series will be Application Optimizations. We started this series with our Introduction to Application Optimization, which showcases common items to look for when it comes to Application Optimization. Microsoft® (FSLogix) Application Masking is a great product to use with Nutanix® Frame Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution. Application masking makes centralized image management even easier by hiding the applications based on conditions. With Application Masking, you can install all the applications into a single Frame™ sandbox and then provide access to these applications based on conditions such as group membership and many other options. The benefits are fewer master images, the ability to hide applications when publishing full desktops, and the ability to control application license usage.

In this blog series, I've discussed the pros and cons of VDI and DaaS, providing some guidelines to help you make smarter choices. If you've read the previous blog posts, you probably have a pretty good idea what your EUC goals are, what obstacles you face, and how to be successful with DaaS. This time I want to talk about Nutanix Frame, our innovative DaaS platform, and explain what makes Frame unique compared to other DaaS solutions such as Amazon Workspaces, Citrix Cloud, Microsoft WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop), and VMware Horizon Cloud.

I've often said, “We live in a world where everybody is working together and at the same time everybody is competing. This is the new normal.” Finding the balance between competition and partnership is healthy. It keeps Nutanix sharp and helps us to deliver value for customers now and in the future.
